WHAT IS PERMANENT COSMETICS?

It is a cosmetics tattoo that involves depositing pigment into the skin, using a small pen-style machine, microblade or tapping tool which rapidly inserts small quantities of the appropriate color pigment progressively in the required area with the expertise of a competent and skilled professional. The pigment remains in the skin indefinitely although the color may fade due to aging of the tattoo, health or environmental factors, eventually retouching may be required.

WHAT KIND OF TRAINING DO TECHS HAVE?

Requirements vary from state to state but according to the SPCP association a minimum of 100 hours of training in fundamentals is best for a beginner to be deemed ready to treat clients at a basic level. Most of the professionals have years of experience with ongoing advanced training. VINE studio Master techs have a minimum of 5 years experience. We must also be incensed by the state and have a blood borne pathogens yearly training. Training in sanitation, disinfection and we all use single use disposable needles.

DOES IT HURT?

Rarely. In todays advanced market we have the ability to use high level numbing topical creams and gels to make this treatment very comfortable. We recommend highly sensitive clients to let us know and for women generally during your menses it can be more sensitive so schedule off cycle.

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?

Varies and is dependent on many factors, such as:

The pigment used – darker pigments i.e. black and very dark brown last a lot longer than lighter shades.

The density of pigment – i.e. a treatment that has been reinforced with a second adjustment appointment will usually be longer lasting

Environmental factors –  Exposure to UV light, tanning and not using sun protection will fade cosmetic tattoos faster.

Your health and overall individual physiology – some people retain pigment extremely well Generally, the treatment is considered permanent; in many cases (especially eyeliner and very dark brows) you will always have some pigment in the skin. A touch-up treatment is recommended every 18-24 months for most cosmetic tattoo treatments.

IS MICROBLADING PERMANENT COSMETICS?

Microblading has been a tool in permanent cosmetics for many years it has recently became a buzz word and is very popular . It is limited to eyebrows only and uses a blade type tool to create linear lines that are very sharp and create beautiful hair strokes. It is one of many tools we use.

WHO BENEFITS FROM PERMANENT COSMETICS?
  1. People who don’t want to spend their time applying makeup
  2. People who need to look good every day for work and are expected to maintain a certain level of grooming
  3. People who enjoy sports, swimming and the beach
  4. Those suffering alopecia and hair loss from medical treatment
  5. Those who suffer bad eyesight who have trouble applying makeup
  6. Those who just don’t like the ‘made-up’ look and want to look great in no time
  7. Those who are always in a rush and feel that applying makeup is a luxury they just don’t have time for!
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN OMBRE POWDER AND MICROBLADING?

Ombre Powder-fill gives a more defined, solid appearance, and is usually a longer-lasting option, whereas hair stroke, as the name suggests, involves cosmetic tattooing on tiny lines/strokes in a design that gives the appearance of hair. Hair-strokes alone, with no background, do require more re-touching than other methods. A good, longer lasting option can be a combination of these, where a lighter powder-fill will be done at the first appointment, then hair-strokes over the top, to give texture and a realistic, hair like appearance. We can discuss these options and what would give you the best result and your consultation.

Ombre is a good choice for oily skin and clients that want more density and fullness. Great for clients that also have no brow hair at all or patchy

Microblading is a good choice for clients that want full hair stroke look, already have hair but want a super natural fuller look.

HOW LONG DOES THE PROCEDURE TAKE?

Normally between 1-2 hours, depending on the treatment you are having. Often, for eyebrows, the longest part of the appointment can be the consultation and actually drawing on the brow shape – I will always spend time getting them as symmetrical and as close to perfect as possible, with your approval before any cosmetic tattooing begins. The actual tattooing rarely takes longer than 45-60 minutes. When you make your appointment, we will discuss the time needed and make sure there is plenty of time for you to ask questions and for us to discuss the look you are after.

IS IT A SAFE PROCEDURE?

Yes, very. The cosmetic tattoo machine is one of the most hygienic available, a small, pen-like device that uses completely disposable parts. All needles, tubes, chambers, caps, casings – anything that comes into contact with clients, are brand new and sealed prior to your treatment. Our salon is clean, hygienic and compliant with all Department of Health Regulations for Skin Penetration. Allergic reactions to the pigments are incredibly rare. The pigments brands used are trusted, long-established USA made brands that have been on the market for decades. The pigments contain iron oxide that is already present in the human body, so highly unlikely to cause a reaction. In regards to patch tests, this can be arranged, and is recommended if you are concerned/are a highly allergic individual.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO FOLLOW PROPER AFTER CARE?

The skin is an organ and alive it has cells that can interfere with retention . We have to work with the canvas we have and the touch up allows us to make sure we have the perfect results. Following proper after care is essential.

Sometimes, for eyeliner, minor swelling can occur, and a second appointment is needed to make minor shape adjustments to complete the final look.

I HAD IT DONE AND IT DIDN’T LAST, WHY?

There are many factors as to why there was poor retention and each case is unique. Generally a few factors are a play and at the consultation we discuss in detail after care which is very important to retention as well. Medications and the area treated can also effect retention. It looks really dark will it lighten?

Remember it is only one week of this. It is the story of the white swan you need to go through a bit darker spell to have the beautiful outcome. The reason is that day of treatment you have pigment inside the skin now and pigment on top mixed in with the skins natural healing serums and mini scab formation that acts as a bandaid while healing. That makes the color look a lot darker until the outer bandaid comes off then it lightens quite a bit.

Just trust us, it will lighten! Find more information in our blog.
